Switchfoot Sunday #1

For over a decade, I have been obsessed with Switchfoot.  They are a band of surfers from California; unable to make it as professional surfers, as lead singer Jon Foreman says in their film "Fading West," they decided to start a band. It was the best decision they could have made.  Their music has changed my life.

I know, I know. What music hasn't changed my life? But there's something different, something special, about Switchfoot. Almost a year ago, I won the grand prize through a local radio station, which allowed me and Kris to sit with the band and watch the Rams football game.

It was amazing!

The experience was one I will never forget, and one I never thought would happen.  We were up close and personal with the guys for over two hours!  While I would have loved for them to just sit and sing to me, they seemed more interested in the game.  I tried not to take it personally.  But all in all, it was one of the best days of my life.  I met the men who have written and sung so many songs that have moved me and touched my heart, and got hugs from all of them.  Looking back, it's still hard to believe that it actually happened!

But it did happen!

And I have the pictures to prove it!

This weekend, Switchfoot opened up their fall tour in St. Louis.  Of course we went!  And of course it was awesome!  So, I got to thinking that I wanted to share here the songs that God has used to speak to me over the years.  I thought I would start this off with a new song that we heard Friday night called "Love Alone Is Worth The Fight."  This song is such a great reminder of all that God has done in our marriage, and actually, it has helped put petty fights into perspective these last couple of days.  The only thing worth fighting for?

It's not money.

It's not sex.

It's not kids.

It's not the petty day-to-day stuff we wrestle with so often.

It's  love.
